Context

Under the overall supervision of the Senior ICT Officer ( Project Management)  and direct supervision of the ICT Officer (Software Development), the successful candidate will have the responsibility for supporting the development and enhancement of dashboards and reports (SQL Server Reporting Services and Microsoft PowerBI), migrate data reports and database queries from legacy to operational databases and generating new reports requested by IOM Headquarters (HQ), field operations and partner organizations. He/She shall also assist in the establishment and management of a data warehouse to become a central data repository and main source for Migrant Assistance, Movement Operations and Medical reporting, publications, operational performance analysis and statistical information dissemination.Under the overall supervision of the Senior ICT Officer ( Project Management)  and direct supervision of the ICT Officer (Software Development), the successful candidate will have the responsibility for supporting the development and enhancement of dashboards and reports (SQL Server Reporting Services and Microsoft PowerBI), migrate data reports and database queries from legacy to operational databases and generating new reports requested by IOM Headquarters (HQ), field operations and partner organizations. Core Functions / Responsibilities
  • Create SQL reports to attain high reusability, performance and maintainability.  
  • Implement the database/ report design of the system provided by the System/ Solution Architect.
  • Perform data analysis using BI tools and present data in required formats (e.g. dashboards, graphical or geographical representations, and dimensional data modeling) as per business’ requirement.
  • Create SSIS/SSRS packages/reports to meet customer requirements; perform unit and integration tests and resolve any resulting issues/bugs.
  • Manage the portfolio of business intelligence assets and subscriptions.
  • Communicate project status, issues and risk factors to project team members and project managers.
  • Provide maintenance and technical support for existing reports/databases.
  • Respond promptly within accepted timeframes to user support and enhancement requests ensuring continued operation of the said reports/ database.
  • Review support issues, recommend, and implement long term solutions.
  • Provide Tier 3 support.
  • Perform other related duties as may be assigned.
Education
  • A University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field from an accredited academic institution, with four years of relevant professional experience in data modelling and SQL programming preferably with documented experience of using system analysis methods and data modelling tools.
  • A professional certification in the relevant field such as Prince2, BRMP certification or Enterprise and Business Architecture will be a distinct advantage.

Experience
  • Experience in databases, business intelligence, visualization and reporting tools, design, development, implementation and support.
  • Extensive experience in use of MS SQL Server, MS Reporting Services:
    • Specifically, SQL 2016 and SQL 2017.

    • Experience in MS Analysis and Integration Services.

  • Proven capability in Business Intelligence systems (MS SQL Server BI or Oracle Business Objects) and development of data-driven applications and data presentation tools.
  • Ability to manipulate data in various file formats, reporting from complex databases, understanding of statistical principals necessary for data analysis; and working with PowerBI and related tools.

     

Languages

For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of a second official UN language is desirable.
