Context

Under the functional supervision of the Senior Publications Specialist in the Migration Research and Publications Division (MRPD) in Headquarters and the administrative supervision of the National Finance and Administrative Officer of the Publications Unit in the Manila Administrative Centre (MAC); and, in collaboration with relevant staff in MAC and colleagues in the Migration Governance Indicators (MGI) Unit in the Global Migration Data Analysis Centre (GMDAC), based in Berlin, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for reviewing final laid out manuscripts in PDF format, usually following a template, in compliance with IOM's publishing and branding standards.

Attention to detail and high levels of organization/autonomy are required, as is demonstrated experience in publications production in English. Knowledge in Spanish and French are also desirable but not required.

Core Functions / Responsibilities
  1. Liaise with colleagues working on copy-editing and layout, supervisor and colleagues in the mission.
  2. Review laid out publications to ensure adherence to template and IOM standards, including but not limited to spelling and country names.
  3. Review layout, to ensure correct usage of logo, page numbers, internal and external links, etc.
  4. Provide comments to the layout artist and copy editor working on these publications for implementation.
  5. Check that comments have been integrated.
  6. Approve publication for upload to the Publications Platform.
  7. Update of status in the general pipeline and the common working excel spreadsheet with MGI.
  8. Participate in weekly PUB team meetings and monthly MGI meetings.
Education
  • University degree as content or copy editor, with four years of relevant professional experience.
  • Attention to detail and high levels of organization/autonomy are required, as is demonstrated experience in publications production in English. 
Experience
  • Experience in publication production, copy-editing, content editing;
  • Experience in the usage of office Microsoft Office as well as Adobe Suite (in particular Acrobat).
  • Knowledge of Adobe PDF editing;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (in particular, Excel, Word); Knowledge of MGI, GMDAC and IOM work an advantage.
Languages

For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge in Spanish and French is an advantage.
